ONUS is a zine for the artist who isn’t always seen or heard.
It’s like...an open-mic night on paper.
Or an intimate conversation over a glass of wine.
Or a group meeting at the local community center.
Or a venting session on your best friend’s couch...

Whatever it is to you, ONUS is for all of us. This is our first issue ever. Its theme is Color, and we hope you enjoy it.

We are:

Artists
Authors
Immigrants
Students
Voters
Lovers
Leaders
Observers
Queer
Anxious
Thick
Dark
Displaced
In debt
and a little turned on.

We are anyone that needs to create.

Art touches lives in ways that aren’t always tangible. We believe the onus is on us to translate creative expression into real change for the artists of the future.

Every cent that goes toward a purchase of ONUS Issue 1 will be donated to the children’s rights initiative, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). KIND provides free legal services, policy education, and social service programs to thousands of children, many of whom are refugees from dangerous communities around the world. KIND was one of five nonprofit organizations nominated and voted upon by all 20 contributors of ONUS Issue 01.Their mission of creating a safe haven for every kid is an important cause to many of our writers and artists, and we're excited to support an organization that represents an issue so near and dear to our team.
